Guided excursion
A trek that will tell you about the soul of this part of Umbria and lead you to secret places.
If you enjoy spending time in contact with an enchanting nature to get to know its elements and if you are passionate about art, history and the entire culture of an area, only with your legs can you fulfil your dreams.
Monte d'Ansciano Gubbio. We start, of course, from one of the symbols of the city, the Roman Theatre, where there is a marvellous view of the CITTA' DI PIETRA! We will start to climb through it, to then reach the Gubbio funicular railway, which we will not take. From here the real trekking begins, where, via a not-too-difficult path, we arrive at the Convent of San Girolamo, and after a brief visit we set off again towards the summit of the mountain via a harder but feasible path, with a slow pace in order to admire the views and explain the truly unique characteristics of the terrain. Once at the top, the view sweeps 360° and on a fine day you can see the entire chain of the Apennines, from Nero to the Sibillini Mountains. We will descend briefly towards Parco Coppo, and then go to see the ancient Umbrian fortresses of Gubbio. We will then visit the Basilica of St. Ubaldo and descend along the famous 'stradoni', the coveted site of the Gubbio 'Corsa dei Ceri' race, and return to the car. The outing also includes the possibility of visiting some of the town's museums with the help of a museum guide, who will give us all the information about the Basilica and the town, from a historical point of view.
12 km with 600 m of altitude difference. Excursion of medium difficulty E. Duration 5h. Points of interest: Gubbio city, Hermitage San Girolamo, Mount and panorama, Basilica di S'Ubaldo. Possibility of an aperitif in a Gubbio wine shop.
