Visit of Assisi - Carriage Ride through the Vineyards with Tasting

Breakfast at the agriturismo / 3* hotel, check-out and start the day with an independent visit to Assisi, one of the most fascinating places in Umbria.

Pax et Bonum! This is the greeting with which Assisi welcomes you, a Franciscan place par excellence, not only in Umbria and Italy, but throughout the world. St Francis was in fact born in Assisi in 1182; in the place where it is believed his birthplace was located, today stands the Chiesa Nuova. It is in Assisi that he was baptised, in the Cathedral of San Rufino, it is among its alleys that he spent his youth dreaming of a future as a valiant knight, it is here, where the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore stands today, in the Piazza del Vescovado, that he stripped himself, repudiating earthly goods for love of God and his brothers and sisters. It is still in Assisi, in the Church of San Damiano, that praying before the crucifix, he receives the task of renewing the Church of Christ, it is in the town square that he begins his preaching and his work of charity and peace, and it is finally here that he dies in 1226. His remains are preserved in the Basilica of St Francis, but the saint still lives on in every stone of Assisi. We will stroll through its enchanting alleys and visit the Franciscan sites.

Afterwards, we will take a pleasant and carefree ride in a horse-drawn carriage to discover the organic philosophy of the vineyards; an experience that combines the charm of rural life of yesteryear with a modern organic conscience geared towards the production of top-quality foodstuffs in full respect of natural resources. We will reach a prestigious winery in the vicinity of Assisi to take a relaxing walk of about 45 minutes in a horse-drawn carriage through its vineyards, also listening to information provided by our guide. Afterwards, we will head to the winery to enjoy a tasting of organic wines accompanied by a board of local and organic products.

In the evening, we return home. END OF SERVICES
