Perugia Vecchia Park - Bettona
Bettona, a hamlet with Etruscan origins and a typically medieval layout, is today one of the “Borghi più belli d’Italia” (most wonderful italian villages), in Umbria. It is located not far from Perugia and its charme comes, not just from the cultural urges it is dotted with, but also for the environmental richness it is surrounded by. In fact, a luxuriant and splendid vegetation covered by olive groves, vineyards and woods frames the village.
Due to the surrounding landscape, Bettona is considered the "Temple" of outdoor enthusiasts, in fact, in the area that connects Bettona to Torgiano and Deruta, a group of passionate volunteers gave birth to the "Perugia Vecchia Park", a real paradise scattered with marked paths, suitable for trekking, trail running, running and mountain biking. The park took its name from the hill (571 meters above sea level) on which it stands and where the Perugians took refuge after fleeing their city, set on fire by Octavian in 40 BC, during the civil war that saw him against Lucio Antonio.
